Thinking about a new doll and planning the looks of it i came across some questions i have regarding customizing (Not very experienced with customizing sorry).

I am planning to buy a Smart Doll but want to change a few things. Has someone experience with two obvious different eye colors (blue and red) and if it would work on a Smart Doll? Or is it better to stick with one color.
Then there is the fact that i never have changed eyes. Is it simple to do? I read something about blue tac but have zero experience with it.

Then there is the wig. I want a hairstyle with two ponytails. Is it possible to create a twin ponytail style out of a long straight hair wig?
Has anyone some knowledge about adding ribbons or things to the wig? Or how to make some custom hair accesoires?

Thank you for reading my questions.
    Greetz,

The easiest way to be 100% sure the eyes will work is if you buy them from the Smart Doll store. If not, just be sure they are the right measurements In the case of smart doll 22MM eyes. Though most 1/3 BJD eyes will probably work.

For attaching them with blue tack, it's pretty easy, just put a small amount of blue tack around the eye then put it in place. Take the head off the body, and open the head cap. Some prefer to use a dab of hot glue, or softened silicone (ear plugs from a generic store)

For hair, you will most likely be able to create a twin pony tails style with a normal long straight wig. just remember when styling a TINY bit of product goes a long way.

I've never tried to make any special hair pieces, but I would probably use a soft lace/ribbon if possible. If it's going to come in contact with the head, face or body, go for a light color, or be sure that the material has been set/washed to minimize stains.

Thanks for your reply. I got a lot of useful information from it :) . When styling a long straight wig into ponytails, is the risk high that some unrecoverable damage occurs? I know that Smart Doll wigs are styled beforehand but have no knowledge how. Or is it better to search for a suitable wig from another brand?

Typically no; As long as you aren't talking about trimming anything. There should not be a high risk of damage, well no more than styling a normal wig with products.

Be sure to use the right tools for the job. A gentle small brush Volks makes a few or a soft bristle tooth brush can also work. I would suggest using water wax (small amount) and finish with a slight spray.

If you are going to be doing twin pigtails I would suggest string/ribbon over any normal size hair tie products. It will put less pull on the wig, and usually tends to look better without leaving an unusual kink in the hair where it has been placed.

If you can find a pre-made wig from another brand, just be sure to check the measurements. (there are a ton on etsy, as well as many creators that would style a wig how you want).

putting a wig in traditional twintails is not going to be possible. Wigs are wefted, meaning the hair is basically sewn into tape and then that tape is sewn to a wig cap, that tape(or weft) decides which direction the hair will lay. meaning a long straight wig cannot be pulled up into twintails without looking poorly.
You could do low twintails as long as you keep the direction of the hair going downwards and not pulling it to the sides of the head.
For traditional twin tails, you will need to buy a new wig already in that style.

LichtBJD, Leekeworld, various etsy, ebay and amazon sellers all have twintail wigs :) It's a pretty common style.
You can find them where the twin tails are clips that clip onto a wig, or actually formed as part of the wig.
You can buy twintails clips without the wig, but the likelyhood you will find a good color match to smartdoll is unlikely.

My mistake I should have clarified there. If you are going to do a twin pony tail style with low/mid hanging/starting/I have no idea the term for where the pony tail begins xD. Than it should be doable, I wasn't thinking about high resting tails.
