I just picked up Rei and Asuka at a con and I think they're adorable. I was surprised at the height of them (which is fairly big) and the outfits are cute. Even the little backdrop that combines for both figures is a sweet addition. I love the fact these figures are Halloween themed. Too bad the Mari figure wasn't released.
I got Rei and Asuka in today and they are super cute, though as they're my first (and only) Eva@school figures, I was a bit surprised by their size. They're WAY bigger than I expected -- Asuka is about 16cm (6.25") tall, to the top of her hat, and Rei is about 17cm, (6.5") but only because her hat is pointier.
Their hats are firmly attached to their heads, which means they won't be falling off, but likewise that means you can't really take them off even if you wanted. Both girls' heads have enough clearance behind them (between the hair and their clothes) that you can swivel them in any direction you'd like to display them facing.
Curiously, the heads appear to be attached by a peg in the exact shape of a nendoroid neck ball joint. The fused ball-shaped peg, while just a hair smaller than an actual nendo joint, can actually be replaced with an real nendoroid neck ball joint, allowing additional head posability if you're so inclined.
Thanks to the large heads, the figures are extremely topheavy, but they are made of sturdy sold plastic and peg firmly into the bases, so they shouldn't fall over or have any leaning issues.
The bases themselves are just 8cm x 8cm black squares with orange "PetitEva" logos on them. they have a clip in the back that can support half of a thematic halloween background, one of which is provided with each figure. The little "magic wands" they are holding can be slid out of their hands or repositioned, if you'd rather substitute a broom or some other accessory.
The paintwork is simple but well-applied and consistent, the tampos are crisp, and the quality is excellent considering they are just prize figures. They're both nice, cheap additions to any eva or halloween-themed figure collection.
I'm actually a little disappointed we didn't ALSO get the Mari prototype they initially showed as being part of a trio.
Well, maybe later, you never know!
