As an owner of the original 1/5 scale version, I have to say that I don't like this little version. It gives me flashbacks of cheap knockoff gashapon figures. Of course, I generally avoid 1/12 scale anyway, because it's too small for my taste.

But this one looks like someone didn't even try for some sense of quality, but instead just threw the parts together, and called it a night. Everything good that I like about the original is absolutely lost on this little version.

And that's a shame, because it could have been good, if done right.

Nefere3個月前#79493266Jus3個月前#79492172Sure, no harm done. I've got corrected today here on MFC, so you're not the only one to make mistakes. Summer's just started, it's time to get a day off :)
It's actually a first 1/12 scale figure with a real photo published; the other one (NSFW ITEM #990736 - you remember the price right!) has only render photos. We have to wait for August to come to find out how the figure in this scale looks like.
I was curious to check how these small scale 3D printed figures look like - I've found 3cm ENTRY #188316 figures put in crystal block but they don't look good even if they can't be broken.
Oh I remember that tiny Platelet! It was so sad to see that she looked pretty... meh. This kept me from ordering her. She could have been so good! :( However, I guess that 3cm in total was a bad choice because Platelet herself must be about 2cm in size. There's not much room for details and sharpness, though.Figureditout3個月前#79495271Oh no that was a misunderstanding. I was/am aware of the render practice of Fots and Insight. What I was trying to say is: I feel like in the new picture with the table and the plant, it looks as if the figure had not actually been there and was just a re-sized photoshop of the already released larger model.
Reason why I'm thinking this is because the figure itself is super sharp, but everything in her close proximity is not. Like the table right next to her base is really out of focus and the plant right next to her hand as well. I would have expected them to be sharp at very close range of the figure and then blur out a few centimetres away.
Interesting approach. I didn't analyze the image in any detail before but it could hold come truth.Jenthehen3個月前#79512960It should be cheap - I ordered this one ITEM #990736 since the price was right for a tiny naked lady, lol. I'm assuming all the 1/12 scales they are "re-purposing" from prior figure releases will have the lower price point. Please don't forget to post some images once you have got her! ;) Also, I'm interested in your opinion about her overall quality, e.g. her sturdiness. I fear that she might be more brittle due to many parts being so much smaller :O

Okay if it's that low then yeah she will sell. That's actually a price range where most PVC-L figures should be. 5-7k except the ones that got some fancy stuff going on... however their fancy never looks rly good so simple is better.

Figureditout3個月前#79512861Thanks for the warning. I didn't even notice they used PVC back then. And I doubt there will be a right price for this. All B'Full at smaller or larger scale than usual had an enormous price increase so far. Remember ITEM #834831? Or the upcoming ITEM #993154?

Jenthehen3個月前#79511874This one is going to be a huge quality downgrade from ITEM #761432 FYI ... the original Mashiro Ikone figure was NOT a 3D print - it was an actual PVC figure. It was also a much larger scale.
For the right price, I'm sure people will enjoy this tiny girl, but I just wanted to warn!

The lighting of a mug in the background doesn't match with a figure one, and I think the place with the sharpest focus is just in front of the figure where a wood pattern is most visible. A cotton/berry branch has an "uneven focus", and berry balls on the back are less blurry.

I think a photo editor decided no to put a figure behind the branch even if the figure would fit better into an background. So yeah, she's photoshopped.

Nefere3個月前#79494948Most (if not all) 3D printed figures are sculpted digitally (eg. in Zbrush) and the picture you've mentioned is a render - kind of HD screenshot from the program. It doesn't consider a loss of details in a finished product.
That means we can't trust prototype photos at all :>
