Currently feeling pretty much lost with these shipping prices. Yesterday I received an invoice for a figure I've been looking forward to (the Mei Raiden figure from Houkai Impact 3rd) for over a year.
I don't know if I'm looking forward her anymore tbh. The DHL shipping costs to Germany are way more than the figure itself (figure is 20,680 JPY and shipping is 24,221 JPY + can't choose a different shipping method). Furthermore, I've contacted the customer service to ask if they could pack her in a smaller package but they told me that she's already in the smallest box possible...
The 28th of June is the deadline. Until then I was hoping you guys could tell me how you are feeling about shipping costs, how you're dealing with shocking shipping charges etc.

And ordering form China more and more instead of Japan as well.
That is actually how i imported my Raiden Mei (expanded version). Even though she was marked as a "special" shipment due to her sword, which usually only leaves a handfull of shipping methods that are also the most expensive, i managed to import her and save money compared to local sellers.
All included (Figure, CN domestic shipping, proxy fees, currency conversion fees, international shipping and customs) i paid 310 euros for her.
I was very lucky that China had more shipping options open at the time. They had recently gotten a new method, Europe railway express, that was just about 50 euros to ship her.
If you like i can help you look for a place you could still order in the EU? And/or help you navigate a proxy to buy from china?
Edit: Seeing more EU peeps saying that they order through proxies as well, i think for EU residents it's probably the cheapest way sadly.
Well, if you're up for it, my DMs are open!
On other sites it's just as bad for the bigger figures. I was qouted between 34,500 to 44,000 yen shipping for the upcoming Tiger Taiga on two different sites before setting on GSC global simply for the flat shipping rates.
It's INSANE!
part of the problem for us is that we're undoubtedly an after-thought: japan creates with japan in mind, first and foremost. unless oversized boxes become a serious issue with domestic buyers, they definitely won't be changing anything.
with that said though, i did notice that certain figures that are licensed for sale in the US are sometimes repackaged into smaller boxes(!) of course that's really to save $$ on the distributors' part and you'd have to wait the usual 2-5 month wait for the local release.
Khadame • 4天前 • #110971237If you're in Germany, I suggest just cutting your losses and buying from China instead. I got my Raiden Mei from the official Mihoyo store on Taobao via a proxy and paid 8k yen in shipping for her to arrive in a week via SAL.
this. i've actually ordered (official) figures from china using a proxy or directly and the shipping was either extremely cheap or completely free!
No surface.
The options as I see it:
1) Pay
2) cancel
3) use a proxy (but maybe inquire about the figure size and weight first, and then ask the proxy if they ship such a large box with surface) - I feel there are differences what different shops / proxies allow as surface. It is quite strange.
I have the same issue with CD Japan (they do not allow surface)...except it seems they also allow to store the figures until when acceptable shipping is back.
But dang, who knows when that is. They follow no logic...
My bad for not reading properly.
But I still think even the worst aftermarket price would be better than paying that much to DHL. Cancelling for the time being sounds like a good idea.
Nope. She wrote "figure is 20,680 JPY and shipping is 24,221 JPY + can't choose a different shipping method"
