So I was wondering how popular the figures in my 'figures ordered' list were, so I looked at all of them to see how many people claimed to have ordered each one. No real surprise that the Hatsune Miku figure by Myethos ITEM #998271 is the most ordered one at the time of me typing this.
However looking through all of these figures and the statistics listed for each one I noticed something that just could not be true for most of them. That some people claim to already own them. I mean how can someone own something that has not even been released yet? Are these people time travelers? No. Are they are just liars or maybe they do not know the difference between 'ordered' and 'owned'? Ordered means you have purchased it but do not yet have it in your possession, whereas owned means you do have it in your possession. I guess maybe some could be lazy and just skip the whole changing the status from ordered to owned by just going straight to the owned tab. I'm not trying to call out anyone because quite frankly I don't need to when they are calling themselves out by claiming to already own something that they cannot possibly own yet. One only needs to look at the statistics under the community tab of any figure that you know hasn't been released yet to see what I mean. This makes me wonder if any of these statistics can truly be trusted for accuracy? One thing that could help is making the 'owned' selection not selectable at least until the day it's actually been released? I know that it is impossible to even tell who is and who isn't lying about owning anything on here since anyone can claim to without any proof. It's an honor system that you can't force people to follow. Maybe I shouldn't care? (I don't) It just sucks that you can't really trust these statistics. Just goes to show that that old line that you can't believe everything you read online is perhaps in this case true.

Why you msg me tho I’m a fellow owned
Also, my mom's gotta be punished as well! She has anime figures in her room, but she dares to not be on MFC! you are absolutely right!
btw: cool mom you got!
To me "ordered" means I have it pre-ordered, so my "spot in line" and figure is already promised to me but not fulfilled because I haven't paid for it yet, If I pre-ordered a figure and already paid it off in full like some sites require then I'll just mark it as "owned" since the transaction has already occurred and it's my property.
We don't really own it though as it's not in our possession and because I think a lot of these vendors can cancel the transaction on their end for ANY REASON they want so long as they provide a full refund, but you get the point.

LORD THIS. Its my money, and if I bought it, its mine :) I'm gonna put it in owned because i own it. Literally, why do people care if I cant physically hold it??? Its not anyone's business anyway. If its not your money dont worry about it.
I don't mark anything as 'Owned' until it's actually in my hands, even if it's been paid for and shipped, but that's just how I prefer to organize things for my own reference. Then again, I don't have many POs anyway, and don't feel the need to differentiate between paid and unpaid at the moment. Maybe that'll change if I make more POs.
My memory’s insane I remember everything I’ve ordered and how much I paid for it, I don’t need a site to keep track of things as simple as pre orders when my brain can do it for me
I mostly rely on the MFC calendar to track orders because I like to see it visually, so distinguishing between unpaid and already paid is very useful to me. I pop open the ordered tab of the month and see what figures are coming due for this month (or laugh about how I'll actually spend nothing because they all got delayed lol) then pop over to the owned tab to see when my already paid orders are coming out. That's the main reason I even track orders tbh, just to have the nice calendar updates.
I was thinking of saying this too - I think someone I know either does this, or puts it in owned after it's shipped. Overall, I think there are a lot of reasons to mark something as owned even without having it physically with you, especially depending on how each person defines ownership of something.
