Soooo this is gonna be my first diary entry just cause I wanna remember this stuff when I'm old and decrepit...or something like that lol

Just for anyone reading this, I'm not a crook or anything - when I first started figure collecting I had no idea about bootlegs or prices (or even the difference between prize and scales - I used to call prize figures scales just based off their size - ugh...so embarrassing v///-///v) so some of these trades I DEFINITELY got lucky on and accidentally got the better side of T^T these are my confessions lol

1. First trade ever:
MY ITEM #797999
FOR ITEM #520665 (AUTHENTIC)
This one I feel really bad for since neither of us knew anything about figures and were basing the trade just off of...how good the figures looked? lol ;-; I obviously got the better end of the deal since I got a scale ($120+) for a figure I've seen sold for around 40$ recently (pls don't judge - I had no idea and I already hate myself for it =v=)
2. Second trade (with someone I'm really good friends with now!)
MY ITEM #761932
FOR ITEM #845449
Now you might think this was actually a trade where I got the lesser end of the deal, but no ;-; I had no idea bootlegs even existed at the time so the Suomi I traded for wasn't even authentic :( they even paid a price difference T____T now thankfully, I didn't make them pay how much the authentic goes for! I didn't even know how much she went for since I had no idea about MFC, scales, etc. so I just sold her for close to how much I bought her for! After a while, this person actually got an MFC and found out she was bootleg ;------; they told me and I was like +=+ what...and I felt sooooo bad >:-( and super mad at myself (definitely my advice to new figure collectors is DO RESEARCH find out what bootlegs look like, just do research!!!! If you're already on MFC that's a great start ! There's loads of helpful information on here that I wish I could've known when I started collecting) but anyways. now her and I are great friends and she was such a super duper nice angel about it ^///v///^ I am seriously so thankful to have met such a sweet person as her :3!
3. Third trade (I know it seems redundant to write "3. third trade" but it's 4 AM for me and my brain is operating on fumes lol)
MY ITEM #810198 and ITEM #806829
FOR ITEM #17878
With this trade, neither of us knew anything about scales or the value of the figures - I dunno HOW but I continuously got the better end of the deal with these trades!!! I feel like I should be happy about that but I constantly feel so guilty about them ;____; I think with most of my earlier swaps, they just trusted my judgement since I had so many figures at the time? And they were mostly all prize figures v---v But for this one, I believe she decided we would do two of my figures for her Ryomou since Ryomou is freaking big (especially her box) so I think she was basing it mostly off size. Ryomou's box did come with extreme wear and gross smelling bath bomb dust covered all over it - so I'm hoping that makes up for some of it T-T
4. Fourth traaaade
MY ITEM #810773
FOR ITEM #331506
This was when I started becoming more conscious of the value of figures so this trade is MUCH better in terms of fairness in comparison to my other trades. I think this is the first Nendoroid I ever got since I was really only trying to collecting prepainted scales but eventually caved in u-u this trade was really straightforward so there's not much to say about it!
5. Fifth and most recent trade!
MY ITEM #1318 and ITEM #378421
FOR ITEM #287698
Omg this person was so so super nice and great to talk to! They had a really great collection and I could tell they really care for their figures! They seemed to know what they were talking about with the figures so I definitely trusted their judgement! They paid a price difference since it was like we were trading the Kogitsunemaru and Itachi and she was also getting the Sesshoumaru! I think it was pretty fair but I'm still relatively new to figure collecting so I can never be too sure. This was a really great trading experience and her and I became friends through the process! Hopefully we'll be doing another trade sometime soon for some more figures! <33

These are all the trades I've done so far with JUST figures - I've traded a couple of my figures (recently for some re:zero curtains that I can't wait to put up) for clothes or random things but that's only ever been prize figures :3!
Now that I have MFC and know much more than I did a month ago about figures, I promise to be good and make up for my past crimes in swaps unu I'm a criminal T.T

I've learned from my mistakes, so I won't be making any like the ones I did when I first started; the platform I sell on there's A LOT of people new to figure collecting, so if they ask for help, I always give it to them :)

If anyone read this whole thing, thanks for listening! I would love to hear what figures you've traded!

Trading is great way to get rid of a figure you're not so excited about for one you really love! And hopefully the other person feels the same about their end of the trade!

SuperToraX1個月前#78173457How exactly would one find trade partners? I know I have some prize figures that I would love to trade for other figures/goods, but I honestly have no idea where to start.
Great question! I actually had no idea about trading until I stumbled upon Depop! For prize figures and anime goodies I would definitely recommend trading on there! Trading, in my experience so far, is very trustworthy since there's a general set of rules everyone follows on there!
1. Tracked shipping for both sides
2. Person with less reviews ships first, then other person will follow once they see the tracking number
3. We would buy a 1$ listing from each other so that we have a sort of contract through PayPal goods and services and so that we can leave a review when (or if) a person's end of the swap comes through as expected!
On Depop, you can usually tell if a person isn't trustworthy by their past swap reviews! And 2nd rule usually helps to avoid scamming!
Hope this helps <3
Sorry for the late response T^T I didn't expect anyone to see this article after I published it lol

So glad! I wish you luck and I hope everything goes well!! Make sure to be very clear on terms with that person! For example: definitely make sure to tell them there NEEDs to be a tracking number (on both sides)! I've heard too many stories about people who didn't get a tracking number lying and saying it never arrived and complaining T^T, also make sure to get their contact info (like email) and exchange detailed pictures of the figures and their boxes with the person's username on a paper next to the figures (to confirm authenticity), as well as photos of the figures packaged, as well as the postage once it's finally at that step!
I hope this helps! I didn't check this article after I published it since I didn't expect any responses ;-; so I apologize for the late reply!
Best of luck trading! It can be very successful and great when done correctly and justly <3!!

Kagamine_Len1個月前#78173274I've never tried a trade before, but I think I would be nervous to actually do it.
You shouldn't feel bad about trades that both people got figures they wanted, as long as both parties are happy all is well. The bootleg thing though I can understand feeling bad about. Especially if the other party paid you a price difference as well.

I know T^T I've actually had dreams about it ;___; the guilt was literally eating away at me when I found out. I think things like that constantly show up in dreams since they're constantly on the mind, so when the brain is recalling stimulation it received during the day, it shows up in your dreams (I think that's one of the schools of thought as to why dreams happen) oops, sorry to go off on a tangent -///>///-

WindsorSeven1個月前#78173255I've done trades two or three trades in the past, and thankfully both turned out fine. I find it odd that you're beating yourself up so much over trading though! Even though it might seem like someone is doing you a favor, in reality you're doing them one as well. I've traded items before where the value is a bit lopsided, but in reality whatever item your giving away has little value to you, so you appreciate whatever you're getting back.
That's great! I feel great pity for anyone who has gotten scammed or ghosted in a trade T^T I just feel really bad since neither of us knew too much about figures, and I ended up getting scales for prize figures ;-; but you're right!! That makes me feel much better to hear that <3

Eri-channn1個月前#78173183I have never consider trading figures before tbh. I always feel so nervous when selling or even buying figures off people since they could be lying to me, scamming me, selling me a fake, etc. After reading this it seems less scary to buy, let alone trade!
The platform I used to trade is very trustworthy! And the people are really nice! It's a bit hard to find some nice scale on there though ;-; and definitely make sure to use a platform where you can leave reviews to steer buyers/traders away from them!
Also, what definitely helped was that we bought 1$ listings from each other, so there would be some sort of responsibility held through goods and services! The person with less reviews always shipped first WITH TRACKING !! tracking is veryyyy important
If you're just doing it through MFC or instagram, definitely do pictures!!! Pictures of the figure and box in detail, pictures of the postage and figures in box before shipment. Pictures. Of. Everything. lol
You should also be able to tell off the vibes of the person...sometimes T^T

Solarstormflare1個月前#78173149This was really interesting to read! I've never had a chance to trade figures before, only sell them and then use the money to buy new ones. I wouldn't feel too bad as it sounds like both of you agreed to the deals, and there's not much you can do about it now.
Thank you! And you saying that puts some of my guilt at ease T^T Definitely try trading! It's a very nice way to get rid of a figure that you don't feel too attached to, for one that you really love (usually they end up being the same value or one person pays a price difference), and most likely the other person will feel the same about their side of the swap!
