Great Figures, Amazing Service, Fantastic Price!
  • darkfader3個月前#77874440I saw a pink version on Suruga-ya for a reasonable price, so I ordered it :)

Nice! I also always like her blue version as well. :) And it's interesting how this figure keeps on being so cheap! She's well worth the prices she is regularly going for.

vgadict4個月前#77090958I was introduced to QB through the gamebooks and figures in the mid-2000s. I don't own Ymir, but I do own these other QB figs (ITEM #335, ITEM #426, ITEM #427, ITEM #717, ITEM #952, ITEM #1000, ITEM #2449). The quality of Megahouse figures was a step above most of the competition the time, and their QB figures were a big reason why castoff figures became so popular during that era.

That's an excellent question, and one I might be able to help answer. There were actually some figures by other companies that managed to make better-fitting cast off undergarments. One of the earliest with fairly good form-fitting cast off panties is probably ITEM #339 which was released in mid-2007, shortly after MegaHouse released the first Ymir figure version (ITEM #334). The Morte figure may have flown under the radar of many collectors at the time, but no doubt the other figure companies took notice and found ways to integrate and improve upon what Toranoana had done with Morte.

Those are very good choices as well! Especially Nyx and Echidna, I have had multiple moments where I almost bought those. :)

And yes, QB was a perfect franchise with it's varied cast of attractive characters (there is at least one for everyone's tastes) to make a figure line. I'm really happy about the popularity it got as almost every character has a figure in at least one outfit/pose. :)

That is interesting, especially because it was Toranoana, which isn't necessarily known for being outstanding in quality or design. This made me look into it some more and I might have one of the oldest 'swappable body' figures made by them: ITEM #4715 + PICTURE #707862 . :)

victorviper4個月前#77091014Yeah, after reading your review I would have to go with ITEM #18544 should I some day decide to get a Ymir figure for my collection. I bought all of my Megahouse QB figures (Airi, Elina, Mirim) before I started reviewing figures, so I've really taken a close critical look at any of them, and so I was surprised to see all the mold lines in Ymir's hair.
I rather like the design of White Triangle Ymir, but the super high-cut panties do look rather weird.

Yes, I recommend Rebellion Ymir a lot more, not only for the quality and display options, but looking back at this older Ymir figure really made me realize how I appreciate her more realistic body type on her newer figure. It's also in general nice to see how sculpting has improved in quality over the years. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one! When that design was revealed I remember looking at her cute face, her axe, her fluffy hair and then going WHAT ARE THOSE PANTIES. Still, I would fully support a figure being made of that design, might just get creative with changing up the look of her panties then. ;)

    gundamuk4個月前#77092540Hi Maakie,
Always great to see another QB post of yours. And a great review. Personally I remain a fan of the QB Revoltech figures given the play factor, but some of the old Megahouse versions like your Ymir are classic.
And BTW thanks for highlighting the new QB game White Triangle – hopefully they’ll release some new QB figures from it as it’s been a while since we got any. Cheers!

Thanks for enjoying it! :) I might pick up the 2P Revoltech Ymir one day, but with her current market price, I rather first go for other Ymir goods to add to my small Ymir shrine. :)

No problem! I want to believe and hope we see some figures from it one day! Multiple characters have really fun new looks, next to Ymir I also like Aldra, Cattleya and Nowa's new designs!

CaptainZ4個月前#77112065I love figures from this era the value you got was insane compare to what you get today

MegaHouse did even more insane stuff, with for example the double-jointed in both arms other Ymir which also comes with a swappable extra face, next to all her clothing being able to cast off! What I especially like with figures from the 00's and early 10's is that a lot of the extra options and functions were 'surprises' when you received your figure...instead of being extra additions that raise the figure it's sales price.

Maakie4個月前#77090339Thank you for liking the review! The QB figures were really something big in the 00's and most collectors I knew back then owned a couple of them even if they weren't fan of Queen's Blade, just because of how easy they were to get compared to other figures. And you really got your money's worth for the quality (MegaHouse was really on a different level compared to their competitors back then).

Maakie4個月前#77090339I think it wasn't for another couple of years after this figure that cast-offs were improving in fitting. When I was typing this comment I was looking through the database for a while as I was curious if we could pin the advancement of cast-off quality on a specific figure or a specific year, but it's pretty hard! When I look in my own collection I either have oldies with cast-off issues or newer releases that work very well.
That's an excellent question, and one I might be able to help answer. There were actually some figures by other companies that managed to make better-fitting cast off undergarments. Yozieseins4個月前#77090553Well, so far other than Ymir, I enjoy Tomoe (have a figure of her on order), Irma, the three bad girls (Melona, Airi, Menace), and others, but my favorite is probably Elina. I know she's a horrible person, but I love her design and I have a thing for characters who use lances. I'll be checking out those Excellent Model listings in the future. Thanks for the suggestion.

Those are very good choices as well! I especially like Airi and Menace from the ones you mentioned. I by the way also have a soft spot for Nowa and her instructor Alleyne. :) Also Yuit and Vante! I recently bought Yuit as I thought it was cute to display her as well on my Ymir shelf. :)

Hehe, Elina is interesting in her own way and I like her design more than our main character Leina.

No problem! If you still remember this talk after a while, I would be interested in which Excellent Model(s) you have bought! :)
