留言 Review Nurse Witch Komugi-chan Magikarte - Komugi - 1/10 (Wave)

  • victorviper4個月前#76979662Have you ever bought from Jungle Hobby? A year or so ago, they had both the Griffon Komugi and Koyori and the pair was less than 10000 yen. However, shortly thereafter their website was down for an extended period of time (months), and when their website was back up, Komugi was gone but they still had Koyori, so that is where I bought her.

Yes, I really like that site! But for some reason I have not ordered there that much, although they also regularly have Garage Kits for really fair prices. I think it's because the search function is a bit annoying to use and there are no e-mail subscriptions for specific products (as far as I know). Nowadays I don't browse much shopping websites randomly anymore.

Their price for the set is a lot lower than what I've seen other sites doing! Seems like your best bet is to keep an eye out on Jungle. In multiple people their blog posts on here about traveling to Japan, Jungle shops have always been looking really nice as well, with their prices lower than the average other big names in secondhand shopping. I hope I can visit one of their stores in person one day. :)

Maakie How long ago did you see that Komugi coldcast for 6K yen? Because it seems like she sold a year ago for 10K on AmiAmi and I only see her at stores well known for overpricing right now, going for around 20K. :S

victorviper4個月前#76700669I would not spend 10000 yen on this particular Komugi, particularly since the Griffon one was going for 5000-6000 (at least the last time I saw one for sale). The tiny scale is the dealbreaker for me...

I thought this review might had changed your opinion on the size, as she is at least not as small as 1/10, but still her 1/9 is a bit weird. My smallest other scales are 1/8 and after that I already skip to ~1/12 for action figures and trading-figure like pieces. But as I display her together with only other Komugi items, it doesn't feel as weird. Back when I bought her my collection was so small, I didn't pay attention to scales at all.

I personally think ~5K is a good price for this figure, anything higher I would not do. Almost every collectible related to Komugi seems to have risen in price in the last ~3 or so years. I remember skipping buying her lower quality prepainteds in the past (such as ITEM #136447 and ITEM #5893 ) for 2-3K yen each and when I recently saw them again they were going for 6-7K yen! I don't really remember seeing this price increase happen with the anime reboot, so I don't know what spiked her popularity so much in the last few years! How long ago did you see that Komugi coldcast for 6K yen? Considering the fact that Komugi was your icon for a long time on this website, you really should! ;) What do you think of the price on this Komugi, though? Would you say she is worth her currently 10K aftermarket price?

I'll hope you find the Griffon Komugi soon (do you have a maximum budget for it?) so Koyori won't be lonely anymore. :)

Cloudberry4個月前#76584841Welcome back from your hiatus! I can totally understand that you're uncomfortable dropping over $200 for newer figures. Even though the sculpting is nicer, if you have no personal attachment to it, then might as well pass (゚ペ) Plus, getting GKs and painting them sounds pretty fun and worth the costs.
Other social media, like Instagram, is pretty popular nowadays but I feel like they lack the "meat", especially if I want to look at reviews... I do hope that this website lasts for a good while - I've even noticed a few new faces on this site~
As for the figure itself, Komugi is super cute, especially her winking face! I love her blush with that little snaggletooth smile that adds to her cuteness (°◡°♡) While I'm not too familiar with the anime series, her magical girl nurse outfit with the bunny ears and the high-top sneakers, to me, is quite adorable combo (that back wings and ribbon tho).
    Thanks for the review!!!
Also, those gif you made tho <3

Thank you! And yeah, if they are going to make $200 figures of my absolute favorites (like Koto maybe picking up some older licenses again), I might get into it again, but I won't be paying those prices for original characters or anime/games without a huge attachment. In the end the GK hobby is just as expensive for me, but I get more gratification from it. :)

I feel like Instagram is a 'drop your picture and go' place. So I could post my pictures on there, but probably can't get people to read my full review behind it. At this point I see no reason to become active on Instagram because of that.

Komugi is the cutest right? <3 Are you interested in watching any of her series? I would recommend starting with the original Nurse Witch Komugi(-chan Magikarte). :) And yeah I love her sneakers as well! Not that much magical girls are wearing those kinds of shoes. Now that I think about it, one of my other most favorite magical Girls, Pastel Ink ENTRY #3741 from Moetan, wears those kinds of shoes as well haha. Maybe it's just unconsciously that it helps me get attracted to their designs. :)

Thank you for enjoying the review! And about those gifs, I got quite a bunch more stored on my PC for other reviews I have planned a long time ago, but I have some issues regarding the program I'm making them with, so I'm not sure if I can continue to use them in future reviews as well. :(

victorviper4個月前#76585542I really need a Komugi figure in my collection. Of all the Komugi figures, this one seems to be the easiest to find, but the 1/10 scale has always put me off, although it was interesting to learn she is actually more like 1/9.
Maybe my eyes deceive me, but is her hair a little bit redder than it should be?
This figure definitely has its charms, but I've decided that I'd like to have one of the Griffon Komugis, in part because of the larger scale; I'm currently hunting ITEM #5888. A while back, I picked up Griffon's Koyori ITEM #5890, but she has been sitting all boxed up on a shelf in my living room, waiting for me to track down one of the Griffon Komugis. Poor Koyori...
Thanks for this review. It's always good to see older figures reviewed and Komugi in general :).

No, it's not you! Her hair is indeed more deep pink and in some light a bit deep red-ish pink. I'm guessing that it's a choice because of her outfit being so pink as well, but it is a bit inaccurate to the source material.

The Griffon Komugi's are definitely higher quality and in a larger scale. I am still very happy with my ITEM #5888 and I'm sure that with the similar pose she will look great next to ITEM #5890 when displayed! The only downside is that then that you probably won't ever have a Komugi in her original magical girl outfit.

I'll hope you find the Griffon Komugi soon (do you have a maximum budget for it?) so Koyori won't be lonely anymore. :)

No problem, glad you enjoyed the review!

I'll also put this notice in a comment in case people only checked out the pictures in this review:

This figure has been heavily damaged before and is suffering from discoloration, which I tried to fix up the best I could. The reviewed item might be different from the quality you will get when you would buy this figure yourself (either second hand or new). However, I can't confirm this considering the low amount of recent information out there of this figure.
