Shipping from US to Japan: Recommendations?

wzztwzzt2個月前Ask MFC
I need to ship a figure from here in the US back to Japan if I want a replacement for a defective figure. What's a good cost-effective solution for this, and about how much should I expect to pay for it? The package was sent to me via SAL small packet (weight around 1 1/2 lb), tracking is necessary, at least partial insurance is preferred, and it should reach Japan within a month.

I had to do this kind of recently. It was a doll though. Packaged in the shipping box, it weighed about 1 lb 12 oz. I was instructed to choose First-class Package International option ($22.75) with the $14.95 Registered Mail service. So it was $37.70 Total. To my surprise, the package got to them in just a week.

marukawa I DO WHAT I WANT!!
as someone who has been swapping and pen-palling for years out of country, i'd recommend airmail. it'd get to the company in good time, and it has tracking. if you use Priority it'd still take around 2-3weeks or so(i think). Priority also has tracking. you'll also need to fill out the customs slip for the package. it's pretty straight forward.

WanderingWastrel (2個月前) #25910010At the usps.com site, you can get a price quote for packages, even to overseas. I believe ups.com, fedex.com, and dhl.com are similar.
Those will give you far better estimates (and probably exact amount) than our vague suggestions can give you.

I do know about those sites, but I'm specifically looking for someone who's had experience sending a package internationally to Japan.
