(I'm foremost posting this blog to share something personal and dear to me. If I've violated anything, please let me know and I'll edit or take this blog down.)

Hello! I hope you guys are doing well. The figure community has been increasingly blooming and I always enjoy going on mfc to check out daily entries and blogs. I've been a long time regular lurker!

If you guys are interested, I want to share an original project that my friend and I worked hard to create- you are most welcomed to check out more info in this thread: club/72/discuss...

I've previously contributed to a few anime fanbooks, but this is my first time finishing and hosting a big project! The preparation was tedious and stressful, but it was so fun to do something original! As much as I love the realms where fan artists thrive in, I'm even more curious about their own personal concepts and ideas...which they rarely come to light. The way fan artists depict and experiment with other creators' works is already so fascinating...just imagine putting that creativity to their own stuff. So my friend and I worked on this coloring book for the main purpose of self exploration (and for the love of BL)! The satisfaction of putting yourself out there is an interesting but pleasant feeling. Sometimes very clashing and difficult though. haha

I have a question for you guys- Have you ever completed any big personal projects? How did you feel during that long progress? Was it worth it to work on them in the end?

Thank you for reading this long post. :)

serenity_darko4年前#11075583Oh, I am so backing this project when I get home!
Hello! I just signed on. Oh my goodness, thank you for checking out the project and for wanting to back us! OTL OTLLL I know how broke we can get with this figure hobby, so reading your comment make me happy already. If you backed, don't forget to let me know your art request! :')
Karumi4年前#11076092As a bookshop employee, I can tell you that the teen/adult coloring book market has exploded over the past year. This time last year, my store had pretty much no adult coloring books. Now we have an entire bookcase dedicated to them, as well as a table, and endcap display, etc. -
Wow I have been aware of it since that Secret Garden book came out, but I had no idea how over saturated the coloring book market got. That's interesting to know. Once again, thank you for sharing your input!
Magusfigures4年前#11076399Yep! It's called "The Djinni." It's going to be a "novel", sort of? I plan to publish it as a free online serial (one chapter a week sort of thing) but also put the whole thing on kindle for people who want to read ahead ^u^. I don't have the patience for sequential art so I'm just writing it out and adding illustrations for each chapter!
And same to you!! I hope we can both get our big projects off the ground one day :'D

Wow a novel! That's amzing that you can draw and write. Your plan sounds brilliant, you still get to utilize all your talents. :) Thank you!

Hello fellow artist! I know there's quite a lot of artists on mfc, but I've actually never talked to any of them? haha Thank you for giving my project a glance!
'The Djinni' art tag...is that the title of the future project you are planing to share (in the near future!)? Will it be a webcomic/etc? Your characters are so adorable!! My project is illustration based, but yours is story based and of bigger scale! World building is so complex and endless, so I understand why development takes forever. I have some stories I'm working on too but they won't see the light of day for quite a while. I hope you will come to a point soon where you are satisfied with your story and art!

Limited4年前#11047772An artbook sounds like a nice feasible project, and it certainly looks like you two have got the art skills for it. Marketing a coloring book sounds like a challenge though, since the teen/adult coloring book market never struck me as particularly large.

They're top sellers right now, company-wide. So now is pretty much the best time to make a coloring book. Although, the market being flooded is a problem. Most customers who come in looking for them are actually overwhelmed by the selection (which is why we have a table of the top-selling ones...'cause the section...well, a lot of the spines are too small to read so people who do wanna browse it usually make a mess pulling everything out...)

This is the book that started it all.

Thank you! My friend is super talented and I felt so honored to work on something with them. Very true, teen/adult coloring book is quite odd, but hopefully our original boys and illustrations will prevail! :')

I completely understand you with the project juggling. pat pat Having a mind that's always spilling ideas constantly is a double edge sword too. Life and circumstances distracts and delays things as well. I hope you will find THE ONE to finish. And hopefully that will be the first of many!

I remember reading that blog entry with sparkling eyes. She looks so curvy and gorgeous, I really do hope you will continue. I'll wait for you...! (I also sculpt things but never finish, like this twitter.com/min... lol)

Ahh I've misread your comment, but nonetheless you started pretty recently and already got some art sale/culture experiences! lol As for your art collab, I'm sure something will get rolling when timing and everything else clicks.

Myself, I'm one of those who starts a dozen projects, but never finishes any of them. <_< I used to work on projects making pixel-art games, but dropped them once I started learning to draw. Now I plot stupidly long stories for original characters that'll never materialize anytime soon, and dabble in sculpting but am yet to finish anything. (What ever happened to BLOG #20049? I haven't actually worked on that in over a year... I'm really that terrible! D: ) It certainly doesn't help that I play hot potato with my projects, rather then buckling down and trying to finish one. Some day I really ought do something about that...

charle4年前#11046441Ahh I see, it is ok! It seems like you are quite experienced with collabs and contributions! How often do you do doujin tables? That sounds really cool to have a group of friends for sharing tables. It's great that you're active with your art. :)

hikaridranz4年前#11046176...zero >: they're either not big (getting a doujin table + inviting friends so now we have a somewhat regular pool of friends to share tables with) or not personal (co-organising an art exhibition to host the works of more artists than I have fingers and toes)
plus things I want to do and need to do all accumulating faster than my pace of doing them ahh
